Richard Dennis’ legacy, cemented in this superb book by Michael Covel, is to show every retail trader, or wannabe trader, that if they can find a way to get consistently profitable, and stay that way, then there is no limit to their potential trading success, no matter who they are. But, if you are looking for a jumping off point, in price action or trend following, or even just looking for a share trading creed to hang your colours on, then you could do worse than starting with this book. Principle Based Investing is the belief that principles must guide our long-term investment decisions and that predictions are useless, regardless of the source.

I found some parts a bit difficult to read, not in a technical sense, but in a writing sense. I had to re read a few parts, otherwise I would give it 5 stars. The content, story-telling, and inherent twists and turns within the true story of the Turtles are just breathtaking. Would recommend another resource if you want to learn about this trading methodology.
That is to say that, despite all manner of traders being demonstrably profitable over long periods of time, many traders genuinely seem to believe that it is impossible to make money consistently with any style of trading but their own. If you are not a fan of trend following or ‘price action’ trading, then I urge you to put aside any tribal dislike you may feel for Covel’s trend following evangelism and just enjoy the book for what it is – a unique and inspiring story. I had heard good things about the trendfollowing program in this book and I bought it in order to become more experienced with that style of trading. This book was more of a history of the turtle trading class though. It was still very informative and I am glad that I purchased it but while it says that it details the complete set of rules inside it does not go into very much depth.

Turtles have never been very forthcoming about what and how they were trained. Some turtles refuse to speak and some like Curtis Faith who have written their own books about turtle-trading are in dispute with this author.
This book is suppose to be about a group of individuals who are taught a system on how to be successful in the stock market and a good chunk of the book is spent talking about richard dennis political views. This book is one chapter investing tips and the rest is the story of the legendary Turtle Traders.
The book stresses that a trader, using his own money, need only use the price as a guide. I think very highly of this book overall, and my main grievance is a petty one — I rather despise the constant “branding” of the word turtle throughout the book. It’s a tedious exercise in self-promotion that serves to alienate the reader rather than programme him to buy the next book.

- As a UVa alumnus, it was fun to read about how a fellow former Hoo was at the conception of Turtle Trading and is one of the most successful traders in the world today right out of Richmond, Virginia.

This site is like a library, Use search box in the widget to get ebook that you want. From the many interviews I have conducted for the Two Blokes Trading podcast it can sometimes seem that a lot of spread betting and forex traders have a ‘my way or the highway’ approach to trading.
I for one already have a trading system in place that has nothing to do with the price-based, trend following, market agnostic rules of the Turtles – but that in no way dampened my enjoyment of the story. As said above, if you can put aside any tribal differences (hard for traders, I know!) and accept that these people clearly did make money with the system they traded, then it is great fun. Hite’s wild success is based on his deep understanding that markets are flawed—just like people. Through his early-life struggles and failures, Hite came to know himself well—his fears, his frustrations, his self-doubt, and his tolerance for all of the above.

It is frustrating that the author seems so awestruck and uncritical of his subject. The events and personalities described are interesting at times, but that deteriorates into minutia. split your money between S1 and S2 and then test your time for each breakout on paper before crystalising the system. So, I did not have the pleasure of enjoying a well-written book.
